My experience with affiliate marketing is pretty sparse.  Like most bloggers, I saw affiliate marketing as a way make a very small amount of money while giving the advertiser valuable branding space on my blog.

All that changed when I interviewed a candidate with a background in affiliate marketing.  Affiliates can give out $.03 per lead, or $30.  And when done right, affiliates can drive a lot of money your way.

Which is why I've signed up to use affiliate marketing for my training DVD store.  The first batch launches the week after Thanksgiving, and will be focused on the recruiting world, but the material will soon be launched out to small businesses through some distribution partners.

The process took us three months to create the right product and the right look, and it's a gamble to be launching such a time intensive project with the economy as it is.  But it feels so good, and I'm eager to see if affiliate marketing lives up to its side of the bargain.

We'll be using Share-A-Sale.  Our merchant account was approved today, and the store looks great.
